More snow in Roosevelt means 5-day weekend for some

Despite the fact that all weather reports claimed it’d warm up today, the snow came down all day in Seattle on Thursday. Of course, this means more school closures on Friday! Enjoy your 5-day weekend!

Roosevelt High School students join walkout to protest state education cuts

Angry about budget cuts to education, and spilling off the sidewalk and into the street, students from Roosevelt High School walked out of their last period classes and are en route to University of Washington to meet up with students from other high schools to make a protest of hundreds, Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011. Hundreds of students across the Seattle School District walked out of their classes Wednesday afternoon to join a rally at the University of Washington in protest of state education budget cuts. School district pulls the plug on controversial student newspaper policy proposal

The Seattle Public School District issued a statement today stating that they are withdrawing their proposed policy on student newspapers. The controversial proposal would have given school principals the authority to review high school newspapers before they were published and pull them from publication if they believed the content to be libelous in nature.
