A group of students at Green Lake Elementary had a special surprise last Friday when their teachers broke out into dance in the middle of an assembly.

An accident involving a semi truck and a smaller vehicle closed all lanes of traffic on southbound I-5 near the Ravenna overpass for about 40 minutes this afternoon. According to reports, 4 people have been taken to the hospital.
A public funeral service will be held this Saturday, Feb. 11, to honor U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. William Stacey, a 2006 Roosevelt High School graduate who was killed Jan. 31 while serving in Afghanistan.

Tonight is the 10th Annual Neighborhood Grills Benefit Dinner for the University District Food Bank at the Greenlake Bar & Grill and the Eastlake Bar & Grill. Up to 60% of your bill will be donated to the food bank to help defray costs of purchasing food.

According to the Seattle Police Department’s blog, two suspects are still at large after robbing a business in the 5000 block of Roosevelt Way NE early in the morning on Monday, January 30.

Today, the Seattle City Council voted on the Roosevelt Residential Urban Village rezone. The vote was 7-2 in favor of the plan, which will allow for building heights of up to 65 feet in front of RHS. Counilmembers Bruce Harrell and Jean Godden were the dissenting votes.
A bus driver was attacked by two dogs this morning while walking the track at Eckstein Middle School. The school was temporarily placed on lockdown while police officers caught the dogs.
