I can barely contain my excitement. After a couple of months of dust from the grinding work on NE Ravenna Boulevard covering every inch of my home, car, garden, and street, the ACTUAL REPAVING of the westbound lanes will FINALLY begin on Monday morning, June 4, at 7:00 a.m.
The paving will happen on the north/northeast side of the street from University Way NE to NE 65th Street. Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily and should be done by Friday, June 8. The I-5 ramps will remain open for this work (other than overnight on Monday, June 4, see below), but motorists and bicyclists should expect street closures and parking restrictions on NE Ravenna Boulevard between 8th Avenue NE and University Way NE during work hours.
Of course, this is all dependent on mother nature. Should she decide to let loose with a few sprinkles, the work will be delayed until the week of June 11.
As most of you know, this is “Phase 2″ of the repaving work. Phase 1, which paved NE Ravenna Boulevard between Green Lake and I-5 (from E Green Lake Drive N to 8th Avenue NE) began in late March and has been completed.
Oh, also? Some ramps will be closed for the paving work. The SDOT crews will start paving across the the 65th Avenue I-5 on- and off-ramps Monday night, June 4, at 10 p.m. At that time, crews will close:
- the on-ramp to southbound I-5 from NE Ravenna Boulevard,
- the NE 65th off-ramp from I-5, and
- the NE 50th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5
The ramps will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 5.
