Congratulations to Roosevelt Jazz! They took second place at the 16th Annual Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival & Competition this evening.

Essentially Ellington is the top high school jazz band competition in the country. It is held each year in New York by the nonprofit organization Jazz at Lincoln Center and is directed by trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis.

Roosevelt was one of three finalists after Friday’s performances. Mountlake Terrace High School came in third and Dillard Center for the Arts from Fort Lauderdale, Florida took first place.
